EVERY WOMAN PORTRAITS

Every Woman Portraits is an event I created as an opportunity to give the women in my community access to a professional portrait. It has organically evolved over the years to a bit more than just photos. Each woman is encouraged to arrive with no makeup and their natural hair, or however else they like. They are then guided through a brief self-reflection in an attempt to disarm and reveal their truest self. The first event was hosted in my home in February 2018.

“People these days will use their filters or use their own selfies and be comfortable with that, but it’s important to see yourself from someone else’s perspective. There’s an oversaturated feed of photos at our fingertips, but people have lost their sense of themselves in that way. I think this event brings them back to who they are, and lets them gravitate toward something that makes them feel better, rather than something that makes them look better.”
