What is Every Woman?
Every Woman is a free portrait event hosted in my photo studio in Turlock, CA. An opprotunity for woman in my community to access quality portraiture and a little bit of self love. Women register for a time slot, show up, have their portrait taken, and are welcome to gather and connect in community. Through the years, this event has evolved into a celebration of women exactly as they are, in their truest form revealed through a brief self-reflection during their portrait session. The first Every Woman event was hosted in 2018 in my home. The last time this event was hosted was February 2020 and you don’t need me to remind you how much has changed since then.
What should I expect?
Nothing to be nervous about. I will guide you through a brief (about 5 minutes) self-reflective portrait session. This means I'll be asking you a few questions to prompt genuine reactions for me to capture. You might experience some emotion, some feelings, and a whole lot of love for yourself-- you'll also end up with some stellar portraits of yourself from another woman's perspective.
Do I pay for this?
This event is free, meaning nothing is required of you but your particpation. I do this in hopes of making quality portraiture accessible to as many woman as possible. If you feel the experience meant something special to you, I will have a tip jar available. You're welcome to throw just about anything in there, though it's certainly not neccessary :)
When should I arrive?
The time slot you signed up for is your arrival time. i.e. if you signed up for 10:30am, you should arrive at 10:30am.
What if I forgot what time slot I registered for?
The time slot you registered for was sent to you in an "Order Confirmation" email. Here's a screenshot to help you find your time in your email.
What should I wear?
My only rule is to wear something you're comfortable in, something that makes you feel good. You are encouraged to arrive with natural hair and no makeup. If this isn't your jam, come however you like! The backdrop is a soft pink, so try to avoid this and similar colors.
Should I bring anything?
I'll have snacks, drinks, and all the essentials, but you're welcome to bring anything you'd like. This is definitely not expected of you so no pressure.
Can I bring someone with me?
Unless they are your kiddo and will be joining your portraits, this event is closed to registered participants only. If you're coming with other registered women, you'll all have the chance to take a portrait individudally and together :)
How many photos will I recieve? When do I get the photos back?
Each participant will recieve 3 finished images. All photos will be uploaded to a shared gallery and sent via email to participants within a week. Once you have your photos, you're free to post, share, etc. #EveryWomanPortraits and feel free to tag me @marilyndays
If you're not comfortable with having your images in a shared gallery, please contact me directly at hi@marilyndays.com
